Science is one of the best tools we have for advancing human progress and reducing the amount of unnecessary suffering in the world. It also makes the world a more interesting place.

I’m a senior nuclear chemist at the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory at Sellafield, Cumbria. I’m also a speaker and broadcaster (TV and radio).

I am also a published author. Going Nuclear: How the Atom Will Save the World (2025) is available now; Meteorite: The Stones From Outer Space That Made Our World (2020) came out a few years ago.

I completed a PhD in Cosmochemistry from the University of Bristol in 2019. I have a First Class (with Hons) undergraduate degree in Geology with Planetary Science (MEarthSci), and I interned with NASA at the Johnson Space Center, Texas.

I’m from West Yorkshire and I live in Cumbria. When I'm not in the lab, I’m normally reading, writing, or running/hiking in the Lake District fells.
